University of Cincinnati’s Board of Trustees voted to remove the name of Charles McMicken from the College of Arts & Sciences Building, McMicken Hall. McMicken was a slave-owner who left the land on which UC was established. McMicken said the college was to educate White students. The vote was unanimous. President Pinto had previously agreed that removal of McMicken’s name was appropriate and the right thing to do.
