UC Health and the UC College of Medicine invite the Cincinnati USA community to celebrate the enduring legacy and leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 47th annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Friday January 17, 2020, 10:00 am – Noon at the UC Medical Sciences Building – Kresge Auditorium.
This free event is an opportunity to reflect upon the lasting power of Dr. King’s life and legacy while honoring those who are actively answering his call to action. The celebration will include the presentation of the UC Health/UC College of Medicine Humanitarian Award. This year’s award recipients are:
- Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, President, Sesh Communications
- Courtis Fuller, Anchor & Reporter, WLWT-TV
- Lincoln Ware, Host, “The Lincoln Ware Show”
Special recognition will be presented to the Cincinnati Chapter of the National Black Journalists Association.
““During a time when true journalism is being maligned and is under attack, we felt it was important to honor the perseverance and dedication of those who refuse to be silent, but instead are continuing to tell the stories of our community and the broader world,” said Christie Kuhns, Vice President of Operations and Community Relations for UC Health. “We believe Dr. King would be incredibly proud of these honorees and the work they continue to do for our community.”
The keynote address will be presented by the award-winning broadcast journalist, Dorothy Tucker, President of the National Black Journalists Association. The celebration will also include musical performances by P&G Voices of Destiny Ensemble and the Rockdale Academy Choir.
