Western Hills Viaduct Project Funding

Cincinnati Councilmember Amy Murray reported this week that the Cincinnati City Council will be moving forward with applications for federal transportation TIGER and INFRA grants to replace the Western Hills Viaduct.

Given the complexity, high cost and urgency to replace the 85-year-old bridge, it is critical that we have an all-hands-on-deck mentality to see this to completion, Murray said.

Local leaders from each of the jurisdictions that bear some ownership – city, county, state and federal – are working hard on the planning, design and the all-important task of raising the funds to pay for the project, she said.

“As chair of the Transportation Committee for the City of Cincinnati, I believe we should all be laser focused on replacement of this essential piece of infrastructure. A coordinated effort in requesting these grants will give us the best opportunity to be awarded the available funds,’’ Murray said.
