Cincinnati Public Schools District Board of Education member Lannis Timmons resigned Wednesday, effective immediately.
“I have enjoyed working with the various community leaders and dedicated individuals on the CPS school board,” Timmons said in his resignation letter. “I have found a path more suited for my goals and objectives of helping young people and kids in the Cincinnati community.
Board of Education President Carolyn Jones accepted Timmons resignation.
“Mr. Timmons has been a great asset to our board, and we are grateful for his service,” Jones said.
Timmons was appointed in October 2017 to replace A. Chris Nelms, who passed away.
The board is required by statute to fill the position within 30 days – in this case no later than June 1.
The board will announce its process for appointing a member to serve in the vacancy during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7. The newly appointed member would serve the remainder of Nelms’ term through December 2019.
