This year’s Nefertiti Awards Banquet, presented by lead sponsor UC Health in the beautiful Music Hall Ballroom, promises to be extra-special. Keynote speaker Tyra Patterson will share her journey from being incarcerated for 23 years for robbery and murder – crimes she did not commit – to finally tasting freedom on Christmas Day in 2017. Hers is an inspirational story of perseverance that everyone needs to hear. NBC’s “The Voice” contestant Tyshawn Colquitt will perform as well as the uplifting New Prospect Praise Team under the direction of Jerome Johnson, and the Dunamis Mime Team under the direction of Yolanda White. Vocalists Cynthia Shropshire and others will inspire guests. Of course, the debonair WLW TV 5 news anchor Courtis Fuller will lead the ceremony.

Vendor booths will open at 11 a.m. while guests shop, or sit and relax and listen to the Jazz and R&B sounds of FAOx2. Lunch and the program will begin promptly at noon.

Most importantly, we will honor eight outstanding women who exemplify the wisdom and inner beauty of the ancient African Queen Nefertiti: Anzora Adkins, Shirley Easley, Dr. Shelley Jefferson Hamler, Renee Mahaffey Harris, Bonita Fletcher Newland, Gayle Renfro, Stephanie A. Smith, and Dr. Nita Walker.

Tickets for the Nefertiti Awards Banquet are on sale at Eventbrite.com. Put on your favorite African outfit (not required, just suggested) and come out to an inspiring afternoon that you won’t want to miss. For information, call The Cincinnati Herald office at (888) 990-7374, ext. 600.
