WHY: This event is being held to create a Safe Place for these “at risk” teens who are in and out of detention centers, courtrooms, foster homes, shelters, and various schools.
“As a result of this support from Next Level Trainings,” Katie Nzekwu, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Villedge Inc. stated, “we will be able to give to more kids and to our community.” The goal of the Villedge is to take these “at risk” teens and break the cycles of dysfunction, weaving them back into the fabric of their communities, to become leaders who empower the younger generation to do the same. “They are grateful to see our Villedge grow and for the love, enthusiasm, and support that is being given to us from those associated with Next Level.” This growth will continue to support stable foster care placements and teens in avoiding residential treatment and detention centers.
Through connection and healthy relationships to safe adults, these teens move from surviving to thriving in their community. “Our whole vision for Villedge is predicated on the belief that people care about these kids just as much as they do and will join us to give them an opportunity to live a full life,” said Nzekwu, when asked what she envisioned for this youth center. Nzekwu went on to discuss the partnership with Next Level Trainings, “They have joined hands with us and united us in our humanity to recognize the power we hold to step into someone’s story and drastically change the outcome.”
