Renowned fiber artist, Cynthia Lockhart, tells the heroic and joyful stories of her ancestors through boundary-pushing quilts
Through March 15, 2020

With a background in fashion design, Lockhart pushes the boundaries of the traditional quilt form, combining dynamic fabrics and patterns in six large-scale creations. Through visual storytelling, viewers are invited to embark on a journey of discovery—one that encourages people to understand more deeply the diversity of people, cultures, and beauty in the world around them. Lockhart hopes her work will serve as a catalyst for individuals to be inspired to dream, dance, and sing their way forward to unbounded possibilities of freedom as her ancestors envisioned exactly 400 years ago.
