Ohio’s Primary Election – What is a primary? A primary election is an election where political parties nominate their candidates for the General Election, which will be held Nov. 3, 2020. On March 17, voters will be asked to select a ballot; only one ballot may be selected. The choices are: Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party and Issues Only.
Voter registration deadline is Tuesday, February 18. The BOE will be open until 9 p.m. on this date to accept registration forms. Voters can also register online or use the online change of address service available on our website until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18.
Absentee voting begins Wednesday, February 19. The BOE will begin mailing ballots on February 19 to voters who have submitted an absentee application. Voters must request an absentee ballot in order to receive a ballot by mail. Application forms are available on our website or by calling our Absentee Voting department at 513 632-7039 or 513 632-7044.
In-person early voters – A change in Ohio law speeds up the check-in process for early voters. The Early Voting process is now similar to Election Day voting. Voters simply show ID, sign-in, vote their ballot, and place the ballot into a secure scanner – no more applications and identification envelopes to be completed by the voters. Early voting at the board office also begins on February 19. Please see our website for a complete listing of voting days and hours.
Help wanted – The Hamilton County Board of Elections is hiring precinct election officials (poll workers). Precinct election officials earn between $181.50 and $218.00, depending upon job assignment. There are openings throughout the county. For more information, go to the BOE website or contact our PEO department at 513 632-7041 (Democratic) or 513 632-7042 (Republican).
Reminder – The Board of Elections is at 4700 Smith Road in Norwood. There is plenty of free public parking and a secure 24-hour drop box.
