When 90 kindergartners at Roll Hill School at 2411 Baltimore Ave. walked into the lunchroom on Thursday, January 23, officers of the Cincinnati Police Department greeted them with a few high-fives, and then the uniformed officers sat down and ate lunch with them.
It’s called Meals with Shields, and it’s the perfect opportunity for CPS students to engage in some conversation with local police officers over a nutritious meal. On Thursday’s menu were Cincy-style coneys, garden salad bar featuring a variety of fresh, local produce and cantaloupe melon.
Meals with Shields was available at any CPS elementary school. Any uniformed police officers that wanted to have lunch with students just reported to the school office.
