CINCINNATI — Today, Aftab Pureval released an Affordable Housing Plan – a comprehensive policy plan to ensure every Cincinnatian has access to quality, safe, and affordable housing.
“It is time for Cincinnati to commit to affordable housing in a serious way. My plan is informed by the people in our community and I will work with a broad coalition of community groups to actually get it done,” said Pureval. “As Mayor, I will ensure every Cincinnatian has access to quality, safe, and affordable housing so we can build strong neighborhoods and great quality of life.”
Aftab is the only candidate for Mayor to release a comprehensive policy agenda. The plan includes:
- Reforming Cincinnati’s zoning code so zoning practices do not impede affordable housing by making affordable housing a priority when setting uses for public land and making it easier for citizens to build and host Auxiliary Dwelling Units.
- Partnering with developers and landlords to incentivize and expand affordable housing stock by expanding the use of tax incentives for affordable housing development and increasing transparency in tax incentive processes.
- Assisting tenants facing eviction and helping homeowners remain in their homes by reforming Eviction Court and ensuring access to legal representation for low-income Cincinnatians threatened with eviction or with legal complaints against law-breaking landlords.
