Coach Montaous Walton

For Wright State University Lake Campus Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Montaous Walton, recruiting is the daily life for him. He enjoys everything about it as he is perfecting his craft from staying late nights and long hours in the office to breaking down and evaluating film. As well as writing down notes of top recruits strengths and weaknesses to being on the road scouting recruiting and evaluating talent. Walton is gifted at what he does while being considered amongst his peers as one of the best recruiters in the State of Ohio and maybe in college baseball Walton is very humble down to earth and hardworking.

“I’m very focused on working day in and day out to helping head Coach Chad Geier win a championship and maybe even a few championships in the program. He deserves a ring and I’m thankful to be working under a head coach like him. Our goal as a staff is to bring that USCAA championship ring and trophy to Ohio,” said Walton.

Walton has definitely come a long ways growing up in the inner city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a kid he always possessed a high baseball IQ with a passion for the game. Many years later he would make his mark in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He would help Cincinnati Christian University build a strong competitive program for 3 seasons before moving on to Kansas at Central Christian college of Kansas for one season. Now he is back in Ohio at Wright State University Lake Campus.

In his 2nd season on the coaching staff Walton has been hot on the recruiting trail, and so far has signed some good 2022 recruits.

“Every class has to be better than the last class when recruiting and my focus is to sign the best guys possible,” said Walton.
