Travel is picking up! Did you know it can affect your skin? I make sure I keep my glow while traveling and so can you. I’ve asked Lexi, Aesthetic manager & esthetician at HerMD for her best advice on transitioning your skincare.

Travel Skin Tips:

Facial Before a trip – Hydration is a great way to get your skin looking fierce before any vacation. I love a good HydraFacial. These are a clinical facial that extracts impurities while also infusing the skin with all of the yummy things the skin needs for hydration, a glow, and selfie ready.

Facial After a trip – Lets exfoliate! Any form of exfoliation is a great way to remove the dead skin cells, allowing your products to penetrate deeper, and brighten the skin from your post vacay vibes. A simple derma plane or light peel can do the trick!

International Flights Tips – Traveling affects the skin in so many ways. Stressing over the perfect vacay outfits may cause you to get a pimple. Unfair…i know! However, breakouts are more likely to happen due to the change in climates, touching your face more than you should while waiting for your flight or ubers. Some secrets I like to recommend keeping the skin looking flawless while traveling international are:

Hand Sanitizer. You’re more likely you touch your face while on an airplane or driving long distance. This starts with clean hands!

-Face wipes. Not just any old face wipes. I am picking about ingredients and the long-term reactions these can cause. Cetaphil dirt removing face wipes are a go-to for me. These are fragrance free and gentle for all skin types (even kiddos). I recommend wiping your skin down every few hours while traveling to help rid of dirt and acne causing oil.

-Consistency. What do I mean? Bring your skincare regimen with you. Pack travel size bottles for your bag if needed. Flights cancel, plans change, not your skincare regimen.

Blot. Blot. Blot. Do you get oily? The use of blotting papers during travel (or on the day to day) will absorb acne causing oils lessening the chance of any breakouts occurring. Here’s a secret – Ask the flight attendant for a coffee filter. Those work great to absorb oil in a pinch!

– Lastly, HYDRATE from the inside out. Our skin is the largest organ in our body. We have to keep it hydrated. A tip to keep in mind: For every drink you order, order a glass of water. Challenge yourself to not order another drink until your water is finished.
