The Real Taco Fest Brings Local Taco Enthusiasts To Smale Riverfront Park On May 14, 2022

For its inaugural year, The Real Taco Fest has one simple goal in mind: unite taco lovers with the best tacos in town, all in one spot. Oh yeah, and not running out of tacos.

Considering the plethora of events that take place in Cincinnati each year, it should come as some surprise that a definitive, annual taco festival downtown isn’t yet one of them. On May 14, however, The Real Taco Fest aims to change that with a straightforward approach to celebrating local businesses that proudly serve tacos in the Tri-State.

“We’ve all been to a food festival where lines are too long, or options are limited,” says Festival Producer Ben Howard. “But it’s impossible not to notice the love our city has for tacos. Just ask anyone where their favorite taco in town is from and you’ll get a different answer each time!”

Attendees will have the opportunity to try tacos from over a dozen different local vendors—including Mazunte, Condado Tacos, El Barril Mexican Sports Bar, Mesa Loca and more—all in one location at Smale Riverfront Park (166 W Mehring Way, Cincinnati). And what pairs better with street tacos more than an ice cold margarita or beer? Both of which will be plentifully available, thanks to local sponsors Karrikin Spirits Company and Fifty West Brewing Company, respectively. The event is very much family-friendly with live music and access to the park’s playground remaining open to the public, as well as children 10 and under free to attend.

Tickets are required for entry and are $10. Attendees will be able to choose from one of two available sessions: 12–4pm or 6–10pm. Tickets to attend are now on sale at CincyTicket or via the official fest website, but it should be noted that tickets are limited this year (hence, the commitment to “not running out of tacos” in the aforementioned credo).

Once inside the fest, attendees can purchase food and drink tickets for $4 each that will be redeemed by Vendors when ordering. A “Super Taco Pack” in the form of 11 food and drink tickets for $40 is also available for advanced purchase, that is to say, a free taco awaits you for planning ahead. Most vendors will have a limited menu focusing on street tacos, however, additional side items, desserts or non-alcoholic specialty drinks may also be available at an individual Vendor’s discretion. The formula, however, will largely remain the same across the festival from all food Vendors: 1 Ticket = 1 Taco. A complete list of Vendors and offerings will be provided closer to the date of the festival. There are available spaces for additional vendors—if you are interested in bringing your business to The Real Taco Fest 2022, please email info@realtacofest.com.

A portion of the proceeds from The Real Taco Fest 2022 will benefit their non-profit partner, The Ion Center for Violence Prevention, in their mission to offer free, confidential services to all victim-survivors of power-based personal violence, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
