The E. Kathleen Cooke Foundation (EKC) awarded $10,000 in scholarships to students in the Tri-State area at its inaugural Scholarship Brunch. Established on May 14, 2019, as a partner and philanthropic arm of Epsilon Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., the Foundation awards the E. Kathleen Cooke Scholarship (s) to deserving students to advance education in fulfillment of its mission.
The E. Kathleen Cooke Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that provides support to Greater Cincinnati youth and young adults through enrichment, educational and leadership development initiatives. In addition, the Foundation’s purpose is to support the underserved populations through outreach activities. The foundation also strives to carry out the legacy of E. Kathleen Cooke, a lifelong educator who served students in the Cincinnati Public School System and a Charter member of Epsilon Lambda Sigma Chapter.
“Today, the foundation helped to lessen the financial burden families and their student (s) experience as they prepare for their intended college and/or university” said Dr. Terri Hurdle, who is the President of E. Kathleen Cooke Foundation.
Eighteen scholarships which ranged from $250-$1,000 were awarded to eligible students. The event also highlighted the talent of our local youth and celebrated partners and donors.
