Scientists have continued to study the impact of racial socialization on Black cultural strength.
According to researchers, this group-specific practice has positively contributed to the psychosocial health Of Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) communities.
According to a 2020 study released in the Journal of Black Psychology, it was found that coming together to learn, worship and socialize leads to better health outcomes and a greater sense of racial centrality.
Local community organizer Orlando “Lando” Chapman has continued to use his influence to bring Black Cincinnatians together. Chapman has been recognized for his efforts to enhance the health and well-being of his fellow African American community members, receiving the President Obama Lifetime Achievement Award, a proclamation by State of Ohio State Rep. Sedrick Denson marking August 14 as Orlando Chapman Day and acknowledgment from the Village of Woodlawn for his outstanding efforts.
Throughout 2022, Chapman has brought the Black community together for a variety of wellness events, events celebrating Black-owned businesses and good old-fashioned fun. Ril Entertainment, led by Chapman, plans to continue offering its unique brand of entertainment with integrity with its annual signature event, the Lando’s Pure White Affair, an enchanted evening of music and dancing for Greater Cincinnati’s fun-loving mature party goers.
On Saturday, Aug. 6, Chapman will host Lando’s sixth annual Pure White Affair at the area’s newest entertainment venue, PromoWest at Ovation in Newport. Along the intersection of the Ohio and Licking Rivers, attendees at the Pure White Affair will come together and enjoy music by DJ Vader Mix in a safe, clean outdoor environment.
Chapman and his team have built a legacy of hosting well-attended events free from violent incidents. Individuals who attend Chapman’s Old School Happy Hours, skating parties and community events have become accustomed to entertainment, safety protocols and top-notch customer service and security designed to ensure that everyone in attendance has a great time.
As the name indicates, attendees at Lando’s Pure White Affair wear all-white attire to this upscale event.
