Back Family Reunion Celebration

The Black Family Reunion Celebration (BFR) is set for Aug. 18-21. The four-day celebration will kick off at Hard Rock Casino with a job fair. The speaker series will return Thursday followed by the Heritage Breakfast Friday and the parade on Saturday, with the celebration continuing in Sawyer Point Park Saturday-Sunday. This year’s BFR Family of the Year is former Cintas president & COO, J. Phillip Holloman and family. This year’s parade Grand Marshal is Orlando Chapman.

Newly added this year is a historic tour of Black Cincinnati, which will give people the opportunity to learn more about Black historical sites and figures around Cincinnati. BFR will also be giving a family the opportunity to win a sponsored one-day family reunion in the park during the event this year. There will be plenty of family entertainment, including a backpack giveaway, during the events at the park.

“The Black Family Reunion is back for our 34th year and we are excited to be continuing the tradition of celebrating the Black family here in Cincinnati. We want to show the dynamic and rich aspects of our culture here in Cincinnati and plan to do that with our theme this year of bold and beautiful,” says Tracey Artis, executive director of BFR.
