On Saturday, November 11, Miss Black Ohio USA held a crowning ceremony for Mikayla Chess of Cincinnati announcing her as the new 2023 reigning Queen. The crowning ceremony occurred in Columbus, where The Miss Black Ohio USA Director, Vanessa King, officiated the coronation. Chess will represent the State of Ohio at the National Competition for Miss Black USA in the fall of 2023.
Her pageant platform is to help everyone, especially the youth, achieve mental wellness and overall well-being through social-emotional learning. She does public speaking engagements for non-profits, schools, events, companies, and more. Mikayla lives by a quote from Maya Angelou, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
Chess is the owner and President of Mpressive Exposure LLC., a company that exposes people to and develops self-love, confidence, and success through interactive and engaging events.
