The Church of the Resurrection in Avondale hosted is 21st Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr “Keep the Dream Alive” Award Ceremony Monday, in honoring church and community leaders.
The event was founded by the late Bro. Hugh Henderson, C.PP.S. At St. Mark’s Church.
Barbara Busch, SC. who co-founded Working in Neighborhoods, which provides financial education and home ownership opportunities to low-income residents.
Vera M. Derkson, a nurse who has engaged the community through North Avondale Neighborhood Association and North Avondale Montessori School, as well as through Church of the Resurrection.
Jacqueline Reneer Emerson, who is Director of Clinical Services at Cincinnati Works and President of the Bond Hill Community Council.
Pastor Robert Lee Harris has been an art director/designer for television and a employment counselor for persons with disabilities.
Kathy O’Malley, who leads Church of the Resurrection’s Food Pantry and is a Cancer Justice Navigator for the Church.
Trammel Williams is a father, youth advocate and entrepreneur.
Tyler Williams is head Football Coach at Taft High School and led the team to the Ohio Football Tournament.
Dante Evans is the Bro. Hugh Henderson Scholarship recipient and a freshman at the University of Cincinnati.
The speaker was Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Melba Marsh.
