This year’s keynote speaker will be Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Leader in the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY 8th District) is the first African American to lead a party caucus in either chamber of Congress.
Rep. Jeffries is a self-described progressive whose parents are both public servants, his mother a social worker, and his father a drug counselor. He is well-known as a champion of Civil Rights and for his commitment to issues like police reform, gun violence, and women’s reproductive rights.
Jeffries’s ascension to Minority Leader is the passing of the torch to a new generation. He brings an undeniable energy and vigor to his newly elected role. He was quoted last year in an interview with the Atlantic saying, “I’m a Black progressive Democrat concerned with addressing racial and social and economic injustice with the fierce urgency of now. That’s been my career, that’s been my journey, and it will continue to be as I move forward for however long I have an opportunity to serve.”
This year’s ticket cost is $95 per person and there are opportunities to support the event at various sponsorship levels, including through the purchase of ads in the program book.
The dinner will include entertainment and an array of awards in addition to the address by this phenomenal speaker. Please join the Cincinnati NAACP for what is sure to be an inspiring and meaningful experience and an enjoyable and remarkable evening in support of a vital and worthy cause.
