Every year we celebrate love by sharing cards, candies, flowers, and gifts. Beyond the gifts there will be trips, dinners, and outings to acknowledge our loved ones. We hope the time and effort will be a wonderful expression of love. After those moments, we go back to our daily routine. What about our daily routine? Is it full of the same expressions of love that we show to others? Most of the time, it is not. We often prioritize showing love to others instead of ourselves. With intention, we can build love into our daily routine. Building a loving relationship with yourself takes time. You have to learn the food and movements that help your body feel its best. Sometimes your body tells you to stop working so much or eating too much. You have to listen to your body. There are things that you can do to improve your relationship with yourself:

  1. Work toward sleeping 7-8 hours so that you can operate from a well-rested brain
  2. Upon awakening, check-in with yourself about your mood or feelings
  3. Focus on your meals each day to learn which foods your body can or cannot tolerate
  4. Move in ways that help your body maintain its function
  5. Spend time with people and hobbies that bring you joy

This is the season that love is in the air. Make sure to extend to yourself the love that you give to others. You are worth it!
