The 3rd Anti-Gun Violence Summit sponsored by Christ Church Cathedral will take place on Saturday, June 1, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Urban League’s Holloman Center in the Avondale Town Center, 3539 Reading Rd., Cincinnati 45229. The keynote speaker is DeVone Boggan, founder of “Advance Peace,” a program that has significantly reduced gun violence in several cities across the country.

There also will be four panels: Survivors of gun violence and those who have lost loved ones will tell their stories; a youth panel will speak up and speak out; and two panels will talk about ongoing community and faith-based initiatives across the city. Other organizations needing volunteers will be present.

Some of the speakers will be Mayor Aftab Pureval, Dean Owen Thompson, Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey, Cincinnati Police Dept. Captain Mark Burns, Councilmembers Scotty Johnson and Anna Albi, Bishop Ennis Tait, Rodney Christian, Mitch Morris,  Te’Airea Powell, Ronnell Ellison of Brothas, Inc., Pastor Sil Watkins, Karen Rumsey who heads CCROW (Cincinnati Citizens Respect Our Witnesses) and gun violence survivors groups, youth speakers, and others.

The Anti-Gun Violence Summit is a critical opportunity for the community to come together, share experiences, and explore actionable solutions to address this pressing issue. Organizers are encouraging youth to participate as well as adults.
