From L to R –  BA soulé Rose & Grapefruit Bath Salts & Golden Rose Calendula oil, Lorenne’s Brown Skin Body Butter in Upgrade You, Spraise (formerly known as Skin Deep) Body Soufflé in Lemon Ginger and Beneath Your Mask Nourish Skin & Hair Mask

During the winter, we are the most concerned about our skin. With the weather changing and becoming colder, we can suffer from chapped skin and overall dryness. When thinking about your winter skin care, don’t just think about your face. Your body can suffer from the winter months too –  aside from the weather, quarantining in our homes with the thermostat turned up and warmer fabrics that like cotton can wreak havoc on the skin.

To help combat the harshness of winter, my body care routine is heavy on moisturized skin. Along with drinking a gallon of water a day (which helps balance moisture levels in the skin), I make sure I have thicker body care products on hand after I take a bath or shower. From body oils to body butters, check out some of my favorite black owned products that help keep my skin soft and supple all season:

BA soulé was created by Chanel Scales, a Cincinnatian and mompreneur who wanted to find a luxurious way to relax and feel calmer while dealing with the stresses of motherhood and the pandemic. I love luxe bathing experiences and the Rose & Grapefruit Bath salts don’t disappoint! They add the softest fragrance to your bath and leave your skin soft and smooth. To seal in the moisture after my bath, I use the Golden Rose and Calendula oil. This oil not only moisturizes the skin but it also helps reduce scars, brightens and tones and assists with skin inflammation.

Body butters are one of my favorite way to lock in moisture. Lorenne’s Brown Skin, created by Cincinnati native Tonaya Brownlee, offers incredible smelling body butters crafted with shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil. Made with extremely dry skin in mind, these uber thick and creamy butters are perfect for after showering, bathing or washing your hands.

Spraise (formerly known as Skin Deep) was founded by Dominique Boseman to combat her eczema, dry skin and dry hair. She wanted to ensure she created clean beauty for women and mothers who were short on time but still desired luxury body care products. The Lemon – Ginger soufflé is velvety and smooth and leaves the smelling skin divine. I use this when I want lock in moisture after exfoliating my skin in the shower.

Beneath Your Mask products were formulated by Dana Jackson to help heal her skin after the damage of chemotherapy, her battle with Lupus and excessive weight gain and loss.

Nourish Skin & Hair Serum is a multi-use oil blend that contains vitamins b, c & e, is vegan, cruelty-free and toxin free. I use this serum, which has a lemongrass fragrance, all over my body, face and in my hair.
