Resource Coordinator Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy (CCPA) proudly announces the grand opening of its new high school building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, November 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. The event, themed “Opening Doors to Opportunities,” will celebrate the school’s ongoing mission of academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement.
A highlight of the celebration will be the unveiling of a custom mural by renowned Cincinnati artist Cedric Michael Cox, recognized for his vivid and imaginative style. Cox’s mural serves as a monument to hope and achievement, aligning with CCPA”s mission to guide students toward their dreams. The mural’s bold colors and design reflect the school’s core values of diversity, resilience, and opportunity.
“The blazing sunat the top of Cedric’s mural, which can also be seen as a guiding light, is a powerful metaphor for CCPA”s role in leading our students toward success,” said Amy Rubenstein, Resource Coordinator at CCPA. “This new building represents a transformative space for learning, and Cedric’s mural is an inspiring reminder that every student has the potential to find their own path.”
Reflecting on his connection to the school, Cox shared: “My involvement with CCPA began three summers ago when fellow board member Marjorie Schneider recommended that CCPA students assist me with a series of murals in Avondale. Shortly after, she invited me to join the CCPA board. It is an honor to design and execute this mural with the help of CCPA students, staff, and friends.”
“We are excited to unveil the renovated high school, featuring a state-of-the-art science lab and classroom. This upgrade reflects our commitment to providing top-tier learning opportunities for CCPA students.” – Mr. Mathews, Superintendent of Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy.
The event will feature distinguished guest speakers, including Chip Harrod, founder of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and an inductee of the Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame. Harrod’s lifelong dedication to civil rights and education makes him a fitting addition to the ceremony, as CCPA continues to emphasize leadership, equity, and community service in its mission.
In addition, student-led guided tours of the new high school building will give guests a firsthand look at the state-of-the-art classrooms, advanced technology spaces, and areas dedicated to student wellness and personal growth. Performances by CCPA students will further highlight the school’s vibrant culture and commitment to fostering creativity and talent.
“Over the past 26 years, CCPA’s growth has been driven by our commitment to putting students and staff first. This ribbon-cutting celebrates that dedication and our bright future ahead.” — Ron Gore, CCPA Board President.
The event will also serve as a “Friendraiser,”helping to deepen community connections, attract new supporters, and increase awareness of CCPA”s vision for the future.
Located in Cincinnati’s West End, CCPAis committed to providing a high-quality education for students from kindergarten through high school. The school emphasizes academic excellence, leadership, and community service, preparing students to navigate life beyond the classroom with confidence, compassion, and purpose.
