Vice Mayor Kearney’s office and the City of Cincinnati remembered Domonic Davis, 11, a West End resident, who was fatally shot on November 3, 2023. The honorary street-naming was on Domonic’s birthday on December 24. The honorary street is on Linn Street at the intersection of Derrick Turnbow Avenue, across from the Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy (CCPA), where Domonic was a beloved student.

Domonic was shot and killed while four other children and an adult were also shot and suffered serious injuries.

Police chief Terri Theetge said the children were near the intersection at Jones and Wade streets when someone in a dark Sedan fired 22 rounds “in quick succession” into the group of children.The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for any information on the shooting that took Domonic’s life and injured five others.

The dedication ceremony was held on what would have been Domonic’s 13th birthday. The event brought together community leaders, family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy.  Vice Mayor Kearney and Councilmember Scotty Johnson read the ordinance signed by Mayor Aftab Pureval.

“Domonic Davis Way is a testament to the resilience of the West End community and a reminder of the precious lives impacted by senseless violence,” said Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney. “We honor Domonic’s life, while continuing the work to create a safer city for all our children.”  

Domonic was known for his bright smile, love for basketball, and the joy he brought to his family and friends. His passing has galvanized the community to stand united against violence and work toward a brighter future.
