The Queen City Book Bank celebrated the marking the 250th Little Free Library (LFL),sponsored by Queen City Book Bank, in the Greater Cincinnati region. This special event celebrated the powerful impact these neighborhood book-sharing libraries have had on our community and honors the dedicated stewards who help bring them to life.
This newest Little Free Library was hosted by Connie Harris, a passionate advocate for community literacy and neighborhood engagement. QCBB was introduced to Connie through her involvement with the Reading Bearsโan enthusiastic group of volunteers in Avondale committed to helping children discover books that entertain and foster a love of learning. Connie is the ideal steward for a Little Free Library. As a retired librarian, Connie knows firsthand the joy of seeing children and families light up when they find a book that captures their imagination. When asked why she is excited to host an LFL, Connie shared, โReading has been a great value in my life. Reading is like breathing to me and I want to share that with others in my community.โ
Queen City Book Bank launched its Little Free Library program seven years ago to expand book access and build community. Since then, QCBB has placed libraries in schools, parks, community organizations, and neighborhoods to foster literacy and community connection.
Little Free Libraries are free book-sharing boxes that inspire readers and strengthen communities. Interested in hosting an LFL and becoming a volunteer steward? Reach out to Program Coordinator, Shymain Walker, at Shymain@queencitybookbank.org.ย
