The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) will recognize business and community leaders at its annual gala on Nov. 14 at The Manor House in Mason. With Fifth Third as the Visionary sponsor, the theme for this yearโs gala is Legacy of Lights, celebrating the power of legacy, leadership, and community impact. The Legacy of Lights Gala will honor those who have illuminated the path for others โ from trailblazing entrepreneurs to dedicated community champions.
The Linda Briscoe Award will be presented to Onnie Martin, management consulting professional; the James Clingman Award to V. Anthony Simms-Howell, commissioner, Ohio Commission on Hispanic Latino Affairs; and the Legacy Leader Award to Dr. Thomas Shockley, associate chief medical officer for the Bethesda North region, and chief health equity officer for TriHealth.
The Chamber will present its Chairmanโs Award to Patricia Harris, tax commissioner for the Ohio Department of Taxation.
The three recipients of the Impact Partner Award are Brandy L. Jones, APR, chief communications and marketing officer at Metro; Ron Washington, mayor of Covington; and Charlotte LaNiear, group director of North America media TV operations at Procter & Gamble.











Black Business Hall of Fame inductees include: Delores Hargrove-Young, vice chair of d.e. Foxx & Associates; Roy Mitchell, CPA, Kunimara Mitchell & Co., CPAs; Monica Newby, DDS, Newby Orthodontics; and Carl Satterwhite, The RCF Group.
The black-tie gala begins with a cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards program at 7:30 p.m. The event will also include a premium cigar lounge experience, a silent auction and entertainment. Tickets are $150 for members and $160 for nonmembers.
