Things happen on the field sometimes you just canโt explain. The last two weeks for the Cincinnati Bengals have turned out to be a nightmare. It’s fitting that Halloween was just here two days prior to the Bengals losing their secondย heartbreaker in a row.
Had the Bengals lost to the Philadelphia Eagles or Buffalo Bills the past two games theย way they did it would hurt. It just wouldn’t hurt the way it actually did when losing to one team that was 0-7ย and another team that was mediocre. Both teams the Bengals had under control and found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.ย
This past weekend the Bengals lost to the Chicago Bearsย 47-42. Despite quarterback Joe Flacco throwing for well over 400 yards and taking a lead with under 2 minutes the Bengal Defense could not make a simple tackle stopping the Bears from scoring a winning touchdown. It has gotten to the point where something, anything needs to change. A coach fired? A player cut or benched? Someone deactivated? Nobody has to have 20/20 vision to know the Bengal defense is regressing and rapidly.
The team fired Lou Anarumo and hired Al Golden in the off season in hopes Golden would be the man to turn around one of the worst defenses in the league. After nine games Golden will be lucky if his employment last through the end of 2025. Most golden philosophies in football theorize you canโt fire 11-20 men so the coach must be the one to go.
What should happen? Beats me. The last time I checked my email or my phone message the Bengals hadn’t contacted me about my thoughts to turn around a team they had all off season to make changes on. I do know this though. If nobody is held accountable and nothing changes, there is no deterrent from the same results in the games to come. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I guess we’ll find out if the brass of the Bengals fits into that definition.

Tuff game
Let’s go Bengals
