Arizona’s recent ruling to enforce a Civil War-era law banning nearly all abortions has had far-reaching implications, including reduced availability of safe birthing services, pre- and postnatal care, pap smears, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, family planning, gynecological conditions and miscarriage management, and increased maternal mortality rates.
