Charlotte Dula, who was born September 14, 1917, observes her 100th birthday Thursday, September 14.

She was born Effie and John Kelly Coone in Morris Hill, Mason County, North Carolina, as the ninth child of 14 siblings, and she is the only sibling still living.

Mrs. Dula left her hometown at an early age to move to Cincinnati, where she met and married Henry Roy Dula, now deceased. She and her husband had four children, Leona Dula Stevenson, William Dula, Ernest Dula, and Diane Dula Wright, who is the only surviving child. She has three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, and one newborn great-great-great grandchild.

She was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Walnut Hills, which is now known as New Vision United Methodist Church on Reading Road in Bond Hill.

Mrs. Dula was employed in the homes of the families that owned Getz Jewelry and Steinberg Clothing stores.

She loves to read the Bible, watch Reds games on TV, and she still enjoys fishing. She said she attributes her longevity to God’s grace and to taking an aspirin every day.

Mrs. Dula will celebrate her birthday on Saturday, September 16, as she is surrounded with the love of her family of five generations and friends.

Please wish Mrs. Dula Happy Birthday on her very special day.
