Jostin Construction will salute Albert Smitherman for his extraordinary accomplishments in Entrepreneurship during the 2017 Men of Honor, A Salute to African American Men taking place on Saturday, November 18 at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati.

Smitherman is president and owner of Jostin Construction, a partnership with his wife, Liza, in their first generation, family-owned business. Founded in 1998 as Jostin Concrete, Jostin Construction is now a full service construction company specializing in construction management, general contracting, and self-performed pump, place, finish, and total package concrete construction. The company’s footprint is within a 120-mile radius of Cincinnati, including Dayton, Lexington, Louisville, and Columbus.

With 30 years of experience in the construction industry and 19 years with Jostin, Smitherman directs and coordinates all activities within Jostin to ensure profit and return on capital. He provides guidance and direction toward establishing goals for the company, developing short and long-range objectives and plans to implement these goals. His expertise includes management of multi-million dollar industrial and commercial construction projects.

He is active in his community and continually strives to give back. He volunteers his time to community and social service organizations like People Working Cooperatively, the National Kidney Foundation, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is a member on the Cincinnati Regional Business Council, Episcopal Retirement Services Board, Bethany House Services Board, and The Christ Hospital Foundation Board. He also mentors aspiring individuals and entrepreneurs who are interested in starting their own small businesses.

He recently turned his attention to another area of passion, creating wealth-building opportunities for those individuals who have not had the opportunity to invest in the community in the past.

Smitherman is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He and his wife Liza reside in Walnut Hills and are the proud parents of Justin, Joshua, Jeremy, and Jade.
