Cincinnati Public School District Superintendent Laura Mitchell expressed gratitude regarding the passage of Issue 24, the district’s renewal levy request, in the November 7 Election.

“We are grateful to the voters of the Cincinnati Public School District for approving our renewal levy, sustaining our innovative educational initiatives that ensure our students are prepared for life,’’ Mitchell said.

“This levy will support CPS’s significant student growth and overall performance. Our parents are voting with their feet – more families are moving into the Cincinnati Public School District and choosing CPS for their kids’ education. Our enrollment has grown over the past six years, and to keep pace with this rapid growth, we’ve opened three new schools just this year,’’ she said.

“Through our Vision 2020 campaign, we are reinvesting in our neighborhood schools by embedding programs comparable to what we offer in our popular magnet schools.

“We will continue to prioritize our My Tomorrow initiative, which helps every seventh grader develop a plan to graduate in six years into their chosen career path. An incredible 96 percent of our Class of 2017 seniors graduated with a confirmed career path – including 83 percent who have been accepted into a two- or four-year college or trade school.

“At Cincinnati Public Schools, our students start here and go higher. With the passage of this levy, we can get them there faster,’’ Mitchell said.”
