Kroger donated 8,000 meals to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to kick-off the annual ‘Food from the Heart’ holiday food drive. Residents are asked to participate in this holiday tradition, entering its 27th year, to provide meals to neighbors in need across the Tri-State.

The holiday food drive will run through December 31, with donations of non-perishable items accepted at all Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Kroger locations. The goal is to collect enough food to provide 55,000 meals. The items collected will be distributed to families in need by St. Vincent de Paul volunteers in neighborhoods throughout the Tri-State this holiday season. Shoppers can also make cash donations to support St. Vincent de Paul at checkout coin boxes located at the cash register inside Kroger stores.

“When generous shoppers donate to ‘Food from the Heart’ their donations benefit families who live in their surrounding neighborhoods. They are truly neighbors helping neighbors,” said Mike Dunn, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati. “Last year, St. Vincent de Paul helped over 98,000 people with food throughout the community.”

Since the annual holiday drive began in 1991, local families have received more than 1,058,000 meals through donations to ‘Food from the Heart.’

Collection barrels with ‘Food from the Heart’ signage are inside participating Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Kroger locations. There are three ways you can help:

  • Purchase non-perishable food items and drop them in the food collection barrels located at the Kroger store entrances.
  • Drop a cash donation in the donation boxes located at the Kroger checkout counters – look for the blue St. Vincent de Paul logo.

Call 513-421-HOPE or visit SVDPcincinnati.org to donate.
