Hamilton County Commissioners appointed Oscar Robertson to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden for a three-year term expiring September 14, 2020. The Zoo Board consists of 20 members, three of whom are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

“Oscar Robertson has brought his talents and his world class level of dedication and commitment to those interests we are passionate about and that we value highly here in Cincinnati and Hamilton County for almost 60 years.  The Board of County Commissioners is thrilled that Mr. Robertson is willing to devote his time and attention for the benefit of our internationally renowned Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden,“ said Todd Portune, president of the Board of County Commissioners.

Oscar Robertson, “The Big O,” forever changed the game of basketball – on the court and in the courtroom. As an entrepreneur for over 30 years, he strives to make changes as a small business owner.

Robertson serves as President of ORDMS, LLC and ORCHEM Corporation as well as a general partner of Oscar Robertson Media Ventures, a medial production company.

He holds a Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship from the University of Cincinnati (UC) and its William Howard Taft Medal, which is the highest honor bestowed on an alumnus. He was also honored as a Great Living Cincinnatian in 2011 by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from UC where he was a three-time first team All-American and the first three-time national College Player of the Year. In 1998, the U.S. Basketball Writers renamed their award The Oscar Robertson Trophy. He is listed as one of the all-time leading student athletes and holds an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from UC.
