The American Red Cross asks everyone to help “Sound the Alarm” in Greater Cincinnati and be part of the nationwide Red Cross effort to help reduce the number of deaths and injuries from home fires.

Sound the Alarm is a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event whereby free, working smoke alarms are installed in local homes. Volunteers also provide life-saving information as well as help residents devise a home fire escape plan.

Sixty percent of fire deaths in the country are due to no or non-working smoke alarms. The Red Cross Home Fire Campaign is making a difference by having installed over one million smoke alarms across the nation.

With the support of the Cincinnati Fire Department, the Red Cross campaign starts April 28. Cincinnati Bell technicians, along with other Red Cross volunteers will install smoke alarms in area homes. These installations will take place by appointment from April 28 through May 11. Residents can call 513-579-3003 to set up an appointment.
