Members of Corinthian Baptist Church at 772 Whittier St. in Avondale, are excited to announce the opening of their new church building at 1920 Tennessee Ave. in Bond Hill.

In October 2010, the church purchased 30 acres of land formerly known as the Showcase Cinema property in Bond Hill acres to develop the new church, Day Care Facility and Family Life Center. Later, 25 acres of the property were sold to Mercy Health, with the church keeping 5 acres on which to develop the new church home. Construction of this project is nearing completion with combined efforts from HCO, Inc., Megan Construction and Jostin Construction.

The Rev. K.Z. Smith and First Lady Connie Smith give special thanks to the members.
“Because we were willing to work together, and remained faithful in giving and in praying, God has blessed our efforts way beyond anything that we could have asked or done,’’ Pastor Smith said. Our executive planning and executive development teams chaired by Gwen Robinson Benning and the celebration committee teams chaired by Carla Howard have dedicated many hours in accomplishing this vision. We would like to invite the community to join us at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, as we parade by car from our old location at 772 Whittier St. in Avondale to the new property at Tennessee Avenue. This will kick off our Days of Praise events.”

The event schedule includes:
Saturday, May 4- Fun Fest 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday May 5, First Sunday Service- 10 a.m.
Tuesday – Thursday May 7 – 9, 7 p.m. Celebration of Preaching
Friday, May 10, Gospel Concert- 7 p.m.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday, along with funfest activities for the entire family. Stop by to tour the new facility and meet the pastor. Then return on Sunday, May 5, for the first worship service at 10 a.m.
Enjoy a celebration of preaching Tuesday, May 7, through Thursday, May 9, with three powerful ministers. Dr. Louis Felton, (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Dr. Millicent Hunter, (Philadelphia) and Dr. Lance Watson, (Richmond, Virginia).
On Friday, May 10, the Days of Praise events conclude with a concert featuring nationally known artists Martha Munizzi, J.J. Hairiston and Israel Houghton.
“The Celebration Week will allow us to celebrate with our surrounding neighborhoods in the preaching of the gospel from nationally known pastors, in songs of praise from national gospel artists, which surely, will take us into a deeper fellowship with one another” said Smith.
