October 2-6 will bring another year of stimulating and inspiring films that continue their mission of empowering our shared humanity through stories, conversations and action.
The film screenings, discussion panels, themed workshops and educational events will be hosted at diverse venues throughout Over-the-Rhine and the Greater Cincinnati downtown area; utilizing venues such as the Garfield Theatre, Art Academy of Cincinnati, Contemporary Arts Center, AMC Newport, Washington Park, Woodward Theatre, Freedom Center and Cincinnati Museum Center, to create a unique experience for each film and event.
Over 80 feature length and short films from around the world have been selected by the programming team and judged by a festival jury comprised of notable industry professionals.
Festival highlights include a celebrity red carpet Kickoff Luncheon; Opening Night screening and, an Open Casting Call facilitating the addition of performers with disabilities to the national casting database. And, in addition to festival filmmakers, celebrity guests actor/writer CJ Jones (“Baby Driver,” “Castle Rock,” This Close”), producer/writer/actress Kate Rigs (“Mile 22,” “Oz,” “The Punisher”) and writer/actor/producer Ryan O’Connell (“Special,” “Awkward,” “Will & Grace”) will be attending various festival events.
“Our curation team, led by TT Stern-Enzi, have reviewed films at festivals, as well as films submitted into competition from around the world. The selected films and their compelling stories enable us to experience each other more fully,” said Jack Geiger, managing director of the festival. “Lens based art, in all forms, has the power to be shared in community; and in community, we become closer. We are proud to join Foto Focus and Blink in this endeavor.”
