The “Black Nativity” originated in 1961 and was performed off-Broadway by Langston Hughes. The modified celebration of the birth of Jesus exhibits more than just another Christmas production. The spirited performance is presented with a taste of African American flavor.
“Black Nativity” articulates not only the story of Jesus’ birth but also the splendiferous sound of Gospel music! The production is filled with impactful sounds of music, praise and worship, song and dance, bursts of energetic, astounding costuming and prophetic storytelling!
