February 28 – March 1

In celebration of Black History Month, the Cincinnati Art Museum will offer free admission to the opening weekend of a special exhibition, “Something Over Something Else”: Romare Bearden’s Profile Series, February 28–March 1.

Romare Bearden was a celebrated African American artist (1911–1988) who worked in painting and collage. This exhibition features 30 vibrant collages, which explore the lyrical and layered nature of memory.

On February 27, the museum is hosting a lecture by curators Stephanie Heydt and Robert G. O’Meally at 7 p.m. Free. No reservations required.

On February 28, as the exhibition opens at 11 a.m., Lincoln Ware will be broadcast live from the museum. Friday evening from 5–9 p.m., Art After Dark will celebrate the artist and the exhibition with free admission, live jazz and docent-led tours.

After March 3, tickets are $12 adults, $6 senior/children/students. The exhibition is free on Thursday nights from 5–8 p.m. and during Art After Dark monthly events. Tickets also provide admission to special exhibition Gorham Silver: Designing Brilliance 1850–1970, which opens March 13.
