CARROLLTON, Ga. - Rodney Wiley, of Cincinnati and a member of the University of West Georgia Basketball Team, has been named to the university’s Department of Athletics Fall 2019 Wolves Student Athlete GPA Honor Roll, honoring a total of 206 student athletes for their performance in the classroom during the fall term.
The Fall 2019 edition is the third installment of the Wolves Student Athlete GPA Honor Roll, after being created by UWG’s Academic Support team. To be named to the Wolves Student Athlete GPA Honor Roll, student-athletes must be enrolled as a full-time student and on the current athletic rosters. Wiley has a 3.35 GPA and is majoring in sports management.
Rodney Wiley Jr. has a reserved personality, a comedic sense of humor and a true love and passion for the game of basketball. He achieved a 3.35 GPA during his first semester attending the University of West Georgia, majoring in Sports Management.
He developed a love for basketball at the age of three where he started playing at the local YMCA. Shortly after, because of his passion for the game, his father started an AAU team, Cincy Rise, which provided Rodney many opportunities. He worked hard at his craft as well as his academics at Colerian High School and was able to receive a full athletic scholarship to help pursue his future goals of working in the sports industry. Rodney is focused and goal oriented. He keeps shooting for the stars and dreams big.
Rodney is the son of Rodney Sr. and Towanda Wiley and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Gavin, all of Cincinnati.
