The 8th Annual Halle-Bration, the city’s most festive free holiday festival and gift market goes virtual this year, streaming live Friday and Saturday, December 11-12. On Friday, hours are 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The community “hallelujah celebration of the holidays” will feature 25 vendors selling food, unique gifts, entertainment, free toy give-away with Santa Claus, a kids’ craft webinar, jazz social hour and more – all on a digital platform. It will be streamed LIVE on Halle-Bration’s Facebook page at https://bit.ly/2HsrZrI and on YouTube.
The only in-person part of the event will be the annual free toy give away, on Sat., Dec. 11, 12 noon to 1 p.m., at New Vision UMC, 4400 Reading Rd, 45229. This year it will be a drive through event for the first 200 children, featuring Santa Claus greeting kids at a safe distance, as they pick up the toys. No pre-registration needed, but kids must be present.
“While many holiday events are skipping this year because of the pandemic, we felt it was too important to the community to cancel the event altogether,” said Kathye Lewis Norman, Chair of Virtual Halle-Bration 2020. “We partnered with Steven Easley Blessed Media to be our production manager and to create many of our usual events and vendors on a beautiful, full-color digital format.
“The digital format required this year had a silver lining for many vendors, who took the opportunity to receive Halle-Bration’s technical assistance and training to establish a digital presence and e-commerce platform,” Norman explained. “One of our co-sponsors, the Greater Cincinnati African American Chamber of Commerce, worked with vendors, holding webinars and providing one-on-one consultation to develop a “digital booth” for each, an e-commerce vehicle and a short video they could use for Halle-Bration and future marketing on social media and traditional media.”
The purpose of the eighth annual event is to provide a free family friendly community event celebrating the holiday season, and providing a showcase of Greater Cincinnati African American owned businesses — this year online.
