CINCINNATI – The new Kennedy Avenue Bridge near Woodford Road in Kennedy Heights will open this Saturday, Jan. 16. The two-lane concrete span features 8-foot wide sidewalks, new lights and decorative railings that incorporate the Kennedy Heights neighborhood logo.

Contractor crews will remain on site through next week to complete concrete surface work and lighting. They will return this spring to apply acrylic waterproofing and permanent line striping as well as install security fencing and replant trees in the adjacent Kennedy Heights Park.

The bridge spans active railroad tracks, connecting residential and commercial areas in Kennedy Heights and Pleasant Ridge.

Kennedy Avenue has been closed at Woodford Road since mid-April 2020, when crews demolished the old bridge and began a $2.9 million federally funded replacement project. The reopening, originally scheduled for mid-November, was rescheduled to January.
