Cincinnatian Kailah Ware’s documentary, Innocent: A short form doc about the injustices of Ohio’s Death Row, will be shown July 31, from 1-2 p.m. at the Freedom Center.
The film takes a deep dive into the racial disparities and injustices that are happening on Ohio’s Death Row and looks into the case of Derrick Jamison and Shawn Hawkins, both Black men who were sentenced to death in Hamilton County in the late 80’s.
After the screening, the audience will hear personal stories from people who have been impacted by Ohio’s prison system, and attendees will have the ability to share their own story in a custom Story Share booth. There will also be a light reception after the event.
