A special pair of Halloween-themed nature hikes will wow guests with the wonder of nature at night, and 100 specially carved jack-o’-lanterns, at two Great Parks destinations on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Farbach-Werner Preserve

Great Parks staff and volunteers will carve 100 jack-o’-lanterns that will be displayed along the self-guided, family-friendly Nature at Night Pumpkin Hike between 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Farbach-Werner Preserve, 3455 Poole Rd. in Cincinnati. Guests should bring a flashlight to help navigate the trail in the dark. All will be greeted with fall festivities around a campfire at the end of the trail.

At 8 p.m., a drawing will determine the order in which ticket-holding participants will select a pumpkin from along the trail to take home with them.

Registration for the evening is $5/person, plus $3 to take home a pumpkin. Only 100 pumpkins will be available for purchase. Register online at greatparks.org.

Sharon Woods

Hikers are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume for the free Halloween Family Night Hike at Sharon Woods, 11450 Lebanon Road., starting at 6 p.m. also on Saturday, Oct. 29. Starting at Sharon Centre, the hike will reveal hidden natural animals and plants that come out after the sun goes down. No registration is required for this hike.
