Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor
Recognition from The West End, Cincinnati State and The World.
The Alumni Association of Central High and Courter Tech pay honor, appreciation and offer blessings to our Past President Dr. O’dell Moreno Owens and his Family.
Today, sadness found no resting place. Today a Memorial was held to Celebrate and Honor the Home Going of Dr. O’dell Moreno Owens.
Today there was a Moving Tribute to one of Cincinnati’s, The State, The Country – Don’t Stop. The Whole World. His remarkable journey and his pioneering work in the medical field, with in vitro fertilization. His leadership, and management skills. His care and concern for others. But most of all his love of Family. All of those were recalled and shared with all gathered at Corinthian Baptist Church. Many speakers, and city representatives, city and state resolutions. Family and boyhood friends of Dr. O’ dell Owens.
His three children giving heartfelt moving tributes to a man they simply called, Dad. Each letting a little light shine on their relationship with Dad, and the life lessons he taught them. Their words illustrated what a wonderful man he was. His impact as a former President of Cincinnati State continues. Before it became Cincinnati State.
It was, well just a little history. First Central High School. Then Courter Technical High School. Then Cincinnati Cooperative School of Technology. Then on September 1st, 1994. Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. The Central High – Courter Tech Alumni Family recognizes the long history and the shoulders on which we now stand. We appreciate the benefits we continue to enjoy, because of Dr. Owens presidency and leadership while at Cincinnati State. We honor and thank him.
Dr. O’dell Owens’ earthly presence has ended. His last assignment has been completed. He is now at rest and peace with our Lord. We stand and salute him. We bow in acknowledgement to all that he has given.
We thank him. He has answered his last call. His time and works are over, his journeys now ended. It is now to us, Central, Courter Tech, Alumni and all, to truly honor him by following in his light and sprit. Doing what we can for all mankind.
To the Family, our condolences and prayers.
