HAMILTON, Ohio — A Hamilton 3-year-old is dead after a shooting in Hamilton Thursday evening.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said Jared Green died at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Hamilton Police Lt. Jon Richardson said officers responded to a shooting in the 900 block of Park Avenue. According to the 911 caller who reported the emergency to the Butler County Communications Center, Green was shot in the head.

Police have not said how Green was shot. Investigators have also not said if there are any suspects in the shooting.

Neighbors said the residence where the shooting occurred is a multi-generational home. They said the family has been friendly and quiet like most others in the neighborhood. They also said they did not hear a gunshot.

One neighbor wasn’t home at the time and said coming home to find police on her street was shocking.

“It really scares you. So, you know, we come home and lock our doors. We didn’t really know what was going on,” Sabrina Cearly said.

When she found out why police were there, it brought on different emotions.

“It’s so upsetting … I couldn’t sleep last night because it broke my heart,” Cearly said.

Detectives are investigating the shooting. Police were seen taking multiple items out of the home and taking a photo.

The Hamilton Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Doug Trenum at 513-868-5811, extension 1270.
