A 90-year-old Democrat uses a 'Chronic Boil' metaphor to describe the US as it reveals hidden impurities. Trump is seen as a reflection, not the cause, and a national cleansing process is urged.

A ninety-year-old Democrat

“What has been lurking in the dark crevices and corners of our nation  has now come to the light; what has been hidden under the surface has risen to the top.”; what has been flowing in the subterranean blood stream and veins of the American system is now visible for all the world to see..

Figuratively, a “Chronic Boil” has risen to the nation’s surface.  The undeniable and visible appearance of this boil is evident that our nation is undergoing a national revelation and cleansing process.

While experiencing this national revelation and cleansing, I hope that “we the people” will be  patient, to be positive  and to see the possibilities our democracy holds for a more perfect union.  I hope that citizens of all political and religious persuasions will metaphorically consider the boil as the purification process that will ultimately reveal the hypocrisy and lead to a healthier nation.

As a result of the maladies that has surfaced on the skin of our nation, we are suffering excruciating pain.  The pain requires attention, diagnosis and endurance.  The boil is a symptom of misdiagnosed or an overlooked condition characterized by a pus-filled swelling that progresses into an inflamed, large, red, sebaceous lump and takes the form of a small egg waiting to be hatched.  The boil that has appeared on the surface of our nation today is analogous to the boil on the surface of the human body.

When a boil surfaces on the body, it grows and the pain grows in intensity.  The pain is acute and continuous.  To alleviate the boil’s physical pain medicinal applications are made to bring the impurities to the surface.  With patience, endurance of the pain, the boil soon comes to a head, the pus-filled lump bursts and the impurities began to ooze out. The boil  reveals the impurities trapped beneath the surface, and the pus drains naturally, cleansing the blood and repairing the immune system.

The toxicity in our nation has been inflamed in the Trump Era and Trump is like the “Chronic Boil” that reflects the impurities, maladies, sins and sicknesses that has dwelled in our society for hundreds of years.  The pain ‘we the people” feel in this age is the pulsating pus in the purification process.

Trump is not the cause of the impurities embedded and trapped under the surface of our nation.  He is the manifestation of the epidemic diseases of denial, deception, duplicity, dishonesty, fraud, greed and hypocrisy that have permeated the systems of our nation from its beginning. Trump manifests these impurities, but he is not the cause of them.  He is not the architect, but he is the mire model of the deep-seated bigotries found in race and class superiority, denied justice, deprived opportunities, and racist practices that has plagued our nation for generations.

A “Chronic Boil” is painful, and there is no known treatment or cure for it. However, we the people must apply the essential pressure, endure the essential pain until the impurities trapped in our nation seep to the surface for all to see.  We can then find relief when the seepage drains, and we recognize the need for a thorough diagnosis, and accept the undeniable truths about ourselves and our nation.

I hope that the people will register and vote to save democracy now and give people the time to live up to its ideals.
