By Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH1)
Congressman Greg Landsman has announced $15 million in federal funding has been made available for various projects in Southwest Ohio.Â
The projects include:
– Upgrades for Beechwood Affordable Housing – $1,050,000. We worked with the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority to bring home over $1 million for modernizing and renovating the Beechwood affordable housing building in Avondale. This major renovation effort is slated for completion by 2026. The funds will be used for crucial repairs like replacing boilers, elevator mechanics, HVAC equipment, roofing systems, appliances, plumbing and electrical systems, adding laundry facilities, installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and providing new energy-efficient appliances. Affordable housing supports communities, and Beechwood residents deserve safety, security, and comfort for their families.
– Making your commute smoother – $1,000,000 for SORTA Bus Stops. If you’re one of the thousands who rely on public transit every day, you know how important it is to have safe, accessible bus stops while you’re waiting. We were proud that $1 million was awarded to SORTA for bus stop improvements like leveling uneven pavements for wheelchairs and strollers, installing shelter, seating, lighting, and digital signs showing arrival times. We’re excited to see the impact these improvements will have on transit users who rely on this network to get to work, school, or around the city.
– Keeping our water safe – $910,000 for lead line removal. Ensuring lead-free, clean drinking water has to be a top priority. That’s why Greater Cincinnati Water Works was given $910,000 for its lead service line replacement program. This investment will accelerate the removal of lead service lines connected to homes, businesses, and public properties across the district. After recent events like the East Palestine disaster, access to safe drinking water is something we cannot take for granted. That’s why we proposed three other selected projects aimed at improving our communities’ water systems and keeping them lead-free.
– Looking ahead: FY2025 Budget. With these funds secured, we are already looking ahead to the FY2025 appropriations process. Our office opened the 2025 Community Project Funding applications and we look forward to doing this process again and bringing home more dollars for community-changing projects.
Bringing $15 million right back to the district for these upgrades is one of my proudest achievements so far in Congress. We hope you’ll directly benefit from or at least see the positive impact these projects have on your communities.
