Since 2020, we’ve been in a perpetual season of Grief. We have collectively lost mothers, fathers, husbands, sisters, brothers, cousins, close friends, church members, and colleagues. Their names are etched in our hearts, and we hold onto cherished memories of each one. We are still hurting, yet we strive to find solace in the sweetness of those memories.

Our Dear Lord, You said, to everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to mourn and a time to dance.

So we mourn and then gather to celebrate their lives.

In today’s world, we have time to prepare to die, as in going to Hospice, where we prepare to transition from life to death. We pray for those who are in Hospice for care that focuses on comfort as they are approaching the end of life. Lord, remind them that You love them, no matter what they are going through.

God, we are grateful for your constant presence in our lives. We may not comprehend when and why illness and death enter our lives, although sometimes, as unexpected guests, we find comfort in the knowledge that you walk every step of life’s journey with us.

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Lord, we are always mourning someone or something filling us with loss, grief, and regret.

We know that grief and loss can be burdens but also anchors. We get used to the weight and how it holds us in place, and we learn, grow, and continue to ask for help while suffering. We believe that You are our God over everything.

You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. You remind us to Be still and know that You are God. Lord, as we surrender our worries to You in our mourning, we find solace in the stillness. We ask for your guidance, wisdom, and light to order our steps and illuminate our paths. We trust that we will find peace, comfort, and blessed assurance in Your loving hands. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
