The Cincinnati NAACP announces it will be hosting its 2025 Annual Freedom Fund Dinner on Saturday, October 4, at the beautiful Sharonville Convention Center at 11355 Chester Road, Cincinnati 45246.
Charles Whitehead, President of the Cincinnati NAACP,, said, “AnnualWe are truly honored that NAACP National President Derrick Johnson will serve as the Keynote Speaker for this year’s dinner with our theme being “Unfinished Business.” The Cincinnati NAACP Annual Freedom Fund Dinner is a long-standing tradition that brings together NAACP members and allies, community partners and supporters to raise funds to support the operations of our local Branch, to advance the mission of our organization of eliminating discrimination and inequalities.’’
President Derrick Johnson now serves as the 19th President and CEO of the NAACP, a role he has held since October 2017. With a long history of leadership within the NAACVP, including Vice Chairman f theNational Board of Directors and President f the Mississippi State Conference, he has been instrumental in guiding the association through a period of reinvigoration and transformation. Born in Detroit, Michigan, President Johnson attended Tougaloo College in Mississippi before earning his JD from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. He has furthered his training through fellowships with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the George Washington University School of Political Management, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity Inc. As well as a frequent voice on networks such as CNN, MSNBC, CBS and ABC, he advocated for the Black community and all of those impacted by systemic oppression and injustice consistently being on the frontlines of the Nation’s most pressing issues.
“The work we do as the NAACP is as necessary now as it ever has been,” said Whitehead. “Every day, our focus on key areas such as voter education and empowerment, criminal justice reform, public safety, racial health disparities and economic inclusion, among other aspects, impacts the lives of our members and our community at large.
