Wanda enjoyed a hearty breakfast burrito for brunch. Photos provided

I like sitting down to a leisurely brunch and a cocktail or two. First Watch is a restaurant chain that serves breakfast and brunch only. With several locations throughout the Queen city.

I had breakfast at 104 E 7TH street downtown. There is another location at 8118 Montgomery, and a third site at 2692 Madison Rd. They all have great reviews, and I decided to visit and check it out. Open from 7am to 2:30 pm every day of the week.

Filled to near capacity when I arrived at 10 am and was seated quickly. My initial impression is that it’s a bit casual for my sensibility. However, the restaurant is very clean, including the restrooms. Casual weekend restaurant with plenty of locals having a relaxing time!

Blueberry Cornbread

The menu is easy to read, and the prices are more than fair. Cage free eggs are mentioned on the menu and several light cocktails featured. You can order an entire pitcher of sangria at a great price.

A juice bar with healthy options, coffee, cold brew coffee, turkey sausage, ricotta pancakes, bacon, waffles, biscuits, shrimp & grits, sausage gravy, house made granola, French toast, frittata, and much more.

What did you eat Wanda?

A breakfast burrito stuffed with turkey sausage, cheddar cheese, pickled onions, chunks of potatoes, black beans, cilantro, scrambled cage free eggs, and covered in Vera Cruz hollandaise with cotija cheese. I also ordered the blueberry cornbread with lemon whipped butter. Loaded with fresh berries and a moist texture, with crispy edges. I ordered a cocktail of lavender vodka with lemonade.

The quinoa power bowl is fresh meal consisting of chicken, tomatoes, and feta.

Everything was delicious and I was full until late in the day.

Freshly made kale tonic juice.

The blueberry cornbread was enough for three people. Even though I refused to share it.

My friend had the quinoa power bowl with chicken, roasted tomatoes, feta, pesto sauce, and quinoa. He also had a tall glass of freshly made kale tonic juice. He said it was amazingly fresh and delicious.

A fun time at an unusual restaurant with a unique perspective to eating and the food experience. I had a wonderful time and will visit one of the other locations.
